Reynold A. Nicholson (1868–1945) was a renowned British Orientalist, scholar of Islamic studies, and one of the most influential Western experts on Arabic and Persian literature. He served as a professor at University of Cambridge, where he specialized in Islamic mysticism, classical Arabic poetry, and Persian literary traditions.
Nicholson is best known for his landmark work A Literary History of the Arabs, which introduced generations of readers to the development of Arabic literature from pre-Islamic poetry to the intellectual achievements of the Islamic Golden Age. His scholarship is widely respected for its clarity, depth, and careful translation of classical texts.
